My main goal for Stay Sweet is to always bring you content that helps and adds value to your everyday life, and the blog post today is no different. In my experience from college, to living with roommates in a tiny NYC apartment, stretching my budget and beauty supplies was a common occurrence! I have put together 5 ways to help extend life (or give new life!) to some of your beauty supplies! Now more than ever, we are living in a world where being frugal and using resources wisely will help us prepare for a better future!
Tip #1: Cut Makeup Wipes in half (or even quarters!)
Unless you have really laid on heavy with makeup that day, chances are you don’t need the whole wipe! Cut the wipe in half or quarters and put the rest back in the resealable bag. This will help extend the life of your wipes longer and give you more chances to use items (i.e washcloths) that can get off the rest of what the wipe might have missed and be easily washed and reused again!
Tip #2: Use Conditioner For Shaving. It works for your normal hair, why not for your legs and arms too?? If you are getting low on shaving cream (or soap!), I have used hair conditioner on my legs quite a few times! It works like a charm and leaves your legs silky smooth!
Tip #3: Mix Bronzer powder with Moisturizer. There have been many times when I am getting to the end of my bronzer and there are just a few pieces left in the compact! When this happens, squirt a pump of moisturizer on your hand and then mix with a small pieces of the bronzer— and voila, tinted moisturizer!
Tip #4: Try to Avoid Makeup Sponges or Blenders when you can! I have realized that SO much of your foundation or other liquid products just get completely absorbed into your sponge which means you go through your products that much faster! On days where I don’t necessarily need a perfect airbrush or blended finish, I prefer to use my hands to blend!
Tip#5: Use Coconut Oil for Makeup Remover. Kind of like Windex in “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”, Coconut oil can do no wrong! It is so versatile and can be used from cooking/baking to taking off your makeup! Just rub a little bit in between your hands and smooth over your face— wipe it off with a cotton ball or washcloth
Hope this helps give you a new take on how to save money and make your products last longer!
Would love to hear your any tips you have as well! 🙂
